Mission

Tŷ Enfys provides bright and stimulating learning and living environments that embrace individuality, inspire confidence and encourage the young people to learn through having fun. By focusing on the child and their strengths, personality, abilities and aspirations, as well as their specific needs, our residents grow into happy and independent young people with confidence and a life that is both socially-valued and fulfilled.

We support young people to be active and valued members of their community, through a model of education and care that is underpinned by Positive Behaviour Support, which ensures that positive behaviour and learning are celebrated, repeated and reinforced.

We support residents to develop skills that help them to progress both in education and in life, encouraging them to make positive choices and maintain their overall wellbeing.

We also work closely with families, carers and professionals so that education is delivered with the resident's best interests at heart.

History

Treorchy is a vibrant former mining town nestled in the heart of the Rhondda Fawr Valley in South Wales. Historically known for its role in the coal mining industry, Treorchy flourished during the 19th and early 20th centuries, with the Rhondda becoming one of the most productive coalfields in the world. Like many Welsh valleys, the town has since undergone significant transformation, evolving into a welcoming and close-knit community that retains a strong sense of pride in its heritage.

In recent years, Treorchy has gained national recognition for its regeneration and community spirit. In 2020, it was named UK High Street of the Year, praised for its thriving independent shops, cultural life, and grassroots-led revival. With stunning views of the surrounding hills, access to scenic walking routes, and a strong local identity, Treorchy offers both residents and visitors a unique blend of history, nature, and community charm.

Visiting Arrangements

Maintaining contact with families is of paramount importance, and of course, we welcome visits on a pre-arranged basis. Indeed, we ask that family visits be planned so that we can ensure that children are prepared for visits and possible changes to their routines.
