Ty Galan is a completely renovated and re-designed modern home-from-home located in Porth.
The service offers short breaks for up to 3 young people between the ages of 8 and 19, diagnosed with an autistic spectrum condition and/or other associated condition, including a learning disability.
Ty Galan provides a safe, happy and stimulating environment, within a framework of lifelong learning, backed up with a holistic therapeutic approach that incorporates Positive Behavioural Support and Active Support principles. Staff are experienced and trained in supporting individuals with complex needs, and they value the individuality of the child.
Individuals are encouraged to engage in a range of fun and meaningful activities: to express themselves, to make friends and to prepare for an adult life which is as independent as possible.
Each young person has a modern and spacious bedroom which they are invited to personalise during their stay. Communal areas also encourage young people to spend time together. Art, crafts, games, homework or just chatting are all encouraged on-site, whilst excellent transport links place Ty Galan within easy reach of local amenities.
We implement a 24-hour curriculum in which learning does not stop when the school day ends. We recognise that any environment is a learning environment where life skills can be taught and reinforced.
