Catering Assistant: (to children and young people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition)
Full time: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Salary: £14,391- £15,268 per

One of our newest facilities is Summergil House, a specialist children’s home and school set in 18 acres of idyllic scenery in Presteigne, Powys, close to the border with Herefordshire .
We make it an absolute priority that each and every child and young person who walks through our doors feels welcome, cared for, safe and happy; something we could never do without the people who work for us. Ensuring they eat good nutritious food is part of our responsibility too.
What do we need you to do? Under the guidance of the Head Chef
〉 Store, prepare and serve food and beverage items in accordance with all Food Handling and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
〉 Daily cleaning of all areas of the kitchen in accordance with the home and school’s schedules and specifications, using appropriate equipment, chemicals and work methods.
〉 Ensure documentation duties and procedures are maintained for efficiency and accuracy i.e. temperature of food and equipment.
〉 Ensure all equipment is maintained and cleaned in the appropriate manner.
〉 Report any maintenance problems to the Head Chef/ Home Manager as soon as any problems occur, keeping an accurate record.
〉 Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

We welcome applicants with experience and qualifications gained in Residential Care homes, Restaurants, Education facilities and Hotels. Experience gained here will serve you well. We will also take into consideration whether you have any relevant catering qualifications, certificates of which would need to be presented as part of your pre-employment checks.

〉 This is a busy role, and you need to have the confidence to work in an environment where you will come across challenging behaviours that children and young people with Autism and other associated learning disabilities can present; but don’t worry, there will be training and plenty of support.
〉 Summergil is open 365 days of the year, and you will be required to work on a rota for days, nights and weekends.
